Loressa Quinones, the widow of Los Angeles County firefighter Arnaldo “Arnie” Quinones, gave birth to a girl late Tuesday night. The baby, who weighed in just over 8 lbs., was named Sophia Grace, after her paternal and maternal grandmothers.
Arnie Quinones, who previously worked at L.A. County Fire Station 82 in La Cañada, was one of two firefighters killed on Aug. 30 while battling the Station fire. Quinones and Capt. Tedmund ‘Ted’ Hall were trying to protect Fire Camp 16, one of six inmate fire camps run by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, in the Angeles National Forest.
